The group, whose name was originally thought of as a joke addressing the nearly-similar heights of the dancers, originally consisted of eight Filipino girls and one Vietnamese girl. They were all brought together by mutual friends and became a small family in the process. With their humble beginnings in Houston, TX, they were simply a group of Asian American girls who loved to dance. Many of the original 5 feet members were already college students and some were still in high school, which opened up many opportunities for them to perform in various events at various locations/schools.
Their primary reason for coming together was to dance for 'Extravaganza' after witnessing the creativity and spunk of previous groups and wanting to add their own flair to the show. Though the group members have evolved since they first hit the stage, their objective has remained the same: have fun!
